Bohemian Session Part II

Peyton has the Bohemian spirit inside her. Her favorite weekend event is to go shopping at Goodwill, garage sales and then the most expensive kid's store in town. She plans her outfits without any input from her mom (including the ones shown below) and amazes me with the combinations she can come up with. If you follow my blog you will probably recognize Brennan. She visits me about once a year for themed portraits. This year we chose a Bohemian style. I can always count on Brennan's mom,

Meet Chandler

Chandler recently came in for her first portrait session with me. I knew immediately we had to really show her incredible blue eyes so we made sure to include my white on white lighting. As you can see below she was a natural for the camera. I think mom, dad and the grandparents agree!

When Aleesha said she wanted something different for her senior portraits, I knew I was going to have fun photographing her.. and fun it was. Along with some very stylish and fashionable images, we worked together to create a cutting edge art piece which is now displayed as a wall portrait in her home. I truly love this image and wish you could see if life size as I have.

Just before Sarah's senior session we had this great idea to use some balloons in some of her portraits. Mom was kind enough to go buy a huge balloon bouquet. Thanks mom! Here are a few of my favs.

I have to add this one, too. I love it when seniors come up with an original outfit, especially if it includes a hat, scarf, etc.

Meet Madelyn

I really enjoyed Madelyn's senior session. We photographed her with two looks: straight hair with neutral makeup and then teased hair with a smokier look. It was great photographing 2 different looks with the same senior. Below are a few of the images I really liked.

Hailey spends alot of her time on the soccer field. I think she will admit she is more comfortable in casual clothes instead of in a fashionable dress with heels. However, when she does dress up it is very obvious that she is a beautiful senior. I could post Hailey's entire portrait session on here and honestly say each was a favorite. She also could switch between wonderful smiles and sensitive looks so well that we honestly got as many great senior pictures in a one hour session as I sometimes get with a 2 hour session. Jessica is a beautiful senior who is also a fierce competitor in volleyball. I had a great time working with her and we created some of my favorite senior portraits this year. When she came in recently to place her order she was wearing a cast on her hand. I found out she had been playing with broken fingers [pains me to think about that] for a number of games to help her team and was going to have surgery the next week. I'm not sure I would want to be across the net from Jessica after her hand heals. Here are a few of my favorites.

An afternoon with Cambria

I spent an afternoon with Cambria creating her senior portraits. Cambria has two things which are very important in her life, her music and her faith in God. We made sure that each were represented in her senior portraits and accompaning album. Part of Cambria's session included photographing her playing the piano in her home. I had to make a quick trip to my jeep to get a piece of equipment while setting up. Somehow I got lost trying to get outside and manage to go into 4 rooms before finding the door leading outside. While embarassing, I can tell you Cambria's mom has great taste at decorating and the pets get a quality brand dog food . Here are a few of my favs from Cambria's session.

Ashley must love the summer heat. She (and I) chose the hottest day of the year to do her senior portraits which included sessions indoors and outdoors. I actually took a picture of my temp gauge in my jeep and it registered 107 during the outdoor session. Nevertheless, we still got great stuff with some of my favorites below.

Maddie and Allison Visit

Maddie and Allison came in for senior portraits - wait, they are not seniors yet, but they did come in to have their portraits made. I guess they acted like such great young ladies, I forgot they are still a ways from being seniors. It was fun working with them and the best part was when their parents commented 'Oh that is Maddie for sure' or 'I recognize that expression on Allison' at the viewing session. This means I am doing my job, capturing a natural moment in their lives, which will now be a memory for years to come. A few of Maddie and Allison are shown below.

Kasi's Senior Portraits

Kasi is a member of the Senior Style 09 Spokesmodel team and we recently did her personal outdoor session. Kasi has to be one of my favorite seniors to photograph if for no other reason, she brings hats to her sessions. I'm always telling seniors to bring accessories and hats are my favorite because you can really change someone's look with a hat. Creating Light with Cori

When I photograph outside I use the biggest light available, the sun. However, when we did Cori's personal senior portraits we had to create light at the end because a huge cloud cover came over about 30 minutes before sunset. No problem. Dad held a portable strobe and we kept on creating great images. Were any of these created in the dark?

Senior Style is the theme of the 09 senior class and no one exempliflied this more than Kaja. Her session was closer to a style show with runway lighting and settings to match the clothes she brought. We also included fun senior stuff including poses with her dog and her drill team uniform. Melissa brought great clothes, a sense of style, and personality to match. Melissa, like most seniors, chose the combination session to make sure she got a lot of different looks / locations. Madison's Senior Portraits

Madison will be a senior at North this year. Along with his regular clothes he brought in baseball and football uniforms to show the sports that identify him. Some of my favs are included below.

I have returned from a week of vacation after setting a personal record for hot senior sessions. Hot as in temperature. Last friday the temperature was 103 while we were outside. Last Saturday it was 104 and Sunday it was changing between 107 and 108 on my temperature gauge in my Jeep.
Surprisingly, the seniors didn't let the extreme temperatures bother them and the results were awesome. I will be posting them in the near future.

Lauryn's Sr Portraits

Lauryn came down from Clarendon, TX to have my create her senior portraits. She was loads of fun and since I grew up and went to college in the Texas Panhandle, I could relate to her small town stories.

I am behind on posting the last 8-10 seniors but promise to get caught up soon. I am on vacation this coming week, so Im sure while enjoying the Texas Hill country I will be able to work on some senior sessions to catch up.

Yesterday I set a record for photographing in the heat. 104. I thought 103 was hot on Friday, but topped it. I have a session today and am hoping not to set a new record.

Mitchell: 2 Thumbs Up

I first beacme aware of Mitchell when he was diagnosed with brain cancer while a student in my wife's 1st grade class. You can read Mitchell's Story here. Mitchell and I spent a few minutes recently capturing his bald is beautiful look while he is in chemo. When he is 20 or 30, he will have something to document the time in his life when he beat the deadliest disease I know of. Mitchell told me his grandpa always told him "Thumbs up" and I couldn't describe a better way to describe his outlook on life despite the curve ball he has been tossed.

Mital's Senior Session

I recently worked with Mital to create her senior portraits. Mital wanted both indoor and outdoor portraits and wanted to have two hair styles, so we scheduled them on different days. Im glad we had the outdoor session first (a few weeks ago) because the 100+ degree weather has made me feel like a wilting flower lately. Mital has this charming smile that makes you feel good when you are around her. She is such a happy senior that I had to make her do a few poses with a non-smiling face. Usually it is the other way around. Here are a few of my favs from Mital's session.

Back to my subject of movies. I recently went and saw the lastest Batman flick, The Dark Knight, which was good, but was like one of those movies on dvd where you can choose the ending and they included all 3. It is really difficult to make your popcorn and coke last for 2.5 hours.

Six Decades Together

I recently had the absolute pleasure of working with Davis and Rose to create a family portrait for their 60th wedding anniversary as a present from their children. I had a conversation with them when I delivered their portraits and it could not help but remind me of the wonderful values our country was built upon. I have included one of my favorite portraits of Davis and Rose as well as a very kind compliment they passed on to me.

Meeting and Exceeding Expectations

I have some testimonial comments from satisified clients on my main website, however, in general I believe the best referrals are word of mouth among friends so I normally don't post them on my blog. I am going to make an exception today. I received a copy of an unsolicited email from a parent who recently had her daughter's senior portraits made. It is extremely satisfying when I find out that I have met and even exceeded the expectations of my clients and I am grateful that Katherine chose to share her positive experiences with her friends.

This past Sunday, Lauryn sat for her senior portraits at David Quisenberry’s studio in the old flour mill in historical McKinney. We were thrilled with the attention to detail and focused attention that Lauryn received from David and his make-up artist, Toby. We chose to do both indoor and outdoor sessions which took about two hours of “camera” time, not to mention the time at the makeup session. We took outfits galore with us and David helped her to pick those that he felt would best compliment her photographs. While indoors, Lauryn saw much of the machinery used in the flour mill and had an opportunity to imagine McKinney more than 100 years ago. During the outdoor shoot, she changed in the car while moving from spot to spot. It was truly a fun time for both of us – while in the car, we had the opportunity to chat and talk about milestones and dreams and all of the focus was on her.

Why am I telling you all of this? As a single mom on a budget I was nervous about the expense of senior pictures, but I feel that with David Quisenberry I am getting the most of my money while providing a special experience for Lauryn. Here’s why…
David does not offer packages – I get to pick and choose the poses, sizes, quantities, etc. of the pictures I order.
During the summer I get a portion of the sitting fees back in photo credits. By booking your senior’s session and paying for the sitting fee in June, you will get a 60% credit back in print credits. So, his $100 sitting fee was really a $40 fee and $60 of portraits is paid for! And the $175 fee for both indoors and outdoors, effectively cost $70 for two hours of focused photography! In July and August these credits decrease to 30% and 15% respectively.
His minimums are very manageable for those of us on budgets.

Monday I did Hannah's senior session. It was blazing hot, however, I had found some new places to photography Hannah and she had the perfect clothes to match so we were rocking into the sunset. I have included a few of my favs of Hannah below.

June is almost over, along with the best session prices you can get each year. I am booked into July now, however, you can still call and reserve you session and receive 60% of your session fee in print credit. Back on the topic of movies. According to the family I was wrong about Get Smart. They went while I was capturing senior portraits and said it was very good. Hopefully I will make it to a movie this weekend. Any suggestions?

Perfect Baby

OK, everyone swears their baby is the perfect child when they are first born. Mine were too, until the terrible two's came along. (Actually they weren't that bad then.) I enjoy photographing babies, however, it is pretty much a given that newborns are either asleep or crying and as soon as you take their diaper off, well freedom produces wetness (or worse). Not a big deal. Wooden floors and washing machines take care of any problems except for dad and mom's outfits if they get in the way. But Shelby, now she was the perfect baby. First, she was awake the entire session. Second, she never cried. Didn't even whimper and she was in my studio over 2.5 hours. Heck, Dad made more noise when he was carrying in mom's make-up kit (more on that) up the stairs to my studio. She really didn't even blink much when the bright lights when off in her face. The best part, however, was when she pointed a tiny little finger at dad, giggled and said "No hair". I'm not positive if that is what she said because she spoke softly, but I swear the rest is true. I mentioned Dad carrying mom's make-up kit up the stairs earlier. Mom is actually Toby, my make-up artist. She has a very impressive resume as a make-up artist (MUA) as well as an instructor. Beckie contacted me after seeing some of my work on display at Craig Ranch OBGYN to create a family portrait. She has two wonderful boys and a husband that I immediately liked. I had a lot of fun creating their portraits and they turned out wonderfully. A few of my favorites are below.

Senior Session with Ashley

I knew the second I met Ashley that her eyes would look incredible in her senior portraits. She has those beautiful, bright blue eyes that are so fun to capture. She also loved to smile and laugh so this was a fun session which produced great images. This is one of my last seniors of 2008, and if so what a great way to finish.

2009 Senior Portrait Scholarships

David Quisenberry Photography is offering Senior Portrait Scholarships for three deserving seniors [one from MHS, one from MNHS and one from MBHS] graduating with the Class of 2009. Each scholarship will cover a Combination Portrait session and a portrait package valued at $750.

If you are an upcoming high school senior, it is time for senior portraits. Senior portraits are something that most high school seniors look forward to as an exciting event that kicks off their senior year. For most students it is just a matter of choosing a studio and making an appointment. I am aware that some students don’t have the opportunity to make that choice. There are a variety of reasons that can keep seniors from being able to have the portraits they are dreaming of. I know there are families who are experiencing financial setbacks or personal circumstances, and I would like to remove this obstacle for three seniors from the McKinney Class of 2009.

Wow, it seems like forever since I have posted. I have been busy photographing Senior 09 SpokesModels and I also got to spend a week with the good people on the Cardiac Wing of Plano HCA Hospital. Seems I was having issues with my heart and thought I was just getting old and over weight. Luckily I took my doc's advice at my yearly physical and went for a stress test. Bombed that one bad! Ive always had great BP and cholesterol so it was pretty sobering. I had no blockage so they think it is a virus. I'm feeling much better now and did manage to lose 15 lbs, even if it was just fluid. Word to the wise is if something feels a little wrong inside, don't think ignoring it will make it go away.

What a week of voting! Many of the votes contained personal messages why their entrant was the cutest. My favorites would mention they were the cutest in the world, right after their own kiddos! In the end Brennan captured the most votes. She actually did not receive a vote until Monday afternoon, but once her parent's network was notified she received votes from DFW, Texas and even areas across the US. So here is a big congratulations to you Brennan. I want to thank all the loyal voters for each of the cutest kids. It was an exciting first contest and I promise their will be more to come.

Too Close For Comfort

Thursday I opened my web browser to find the lastest headline "Fire Destroys McKinney Grain Elevator". This sent a shiver of fear through my body. There are [were] two grain elevators in Mckinney: the one that is directly across the street from my studio building and the one that attaches to my studio building on the back side. Either would be way too close for comfort. After a quick phone call and watching the newsstation's video I found out it was the one across the street. The historical grain elevator, built in the mid 1800s was destroyed, but my building was safe.

Four Generations

This one is special. JoAnn contacted me shortly before Christmas to have a family portrait made. Most familes have 3-5 in their portrait, however, JoAnn had 14. This portrait included 4 generations of their family. I did not find out until recently this was the first time that all of the family was able to be together to capture this moment. I know that their children's children will one day consider this as valuable as JoAnn does when they understand the special time in their life that it represents.
I am very honored to have been chosen to create this heirloom portrait for their family.

Three kids and two dogs sounds like a handful but they were so well mannered [both human and canine] that the session was a breeze and we captured some great images. Rebecca and Matt

Along with the holidays, December brought a whirlwind of family portraits and one of my favorites was with Rebecca and Matt. Rebecca wanted to create a formal family heirloom portrait with her son and herself. I love doing this because not only can they enjoy the portrait now, but it also allows future generations of their family to connect with the past. In addition, they also brought some of their more casual western clothes and we had a fun time working with those, also. They had so many great portraits I really had a hard time narrowing it down to a few to show here.

Hey, word is spreading North of McKinney! Amanda, who lives in Whitewright chose me to create her senior portraits so we got together Saturday afternoon. She brought a great selection of clothes; some fashion stuff for in studio and some great western ones that perfectly matched the atmosphere of the rustic areas around my studio. Model's Eyes

I've known Kaylin for a long time. She and my youngest daughter Leslie were best friends when they were in grade school so Kaylin was at my house fairly often. I had not seen her in a few years and she has definitely grown up to be a lovely young lady.

Kaylin has what I call 'Model's Eyes'. She has incredible eye contact with the camera which makes the images seem as if she is looking right at you and makes my job much easier. I don't know that she has any formal training in modeling, so it may be her natural gift. Her session was a blast and I was very pleased with the outcome.

Play Day

Sometimes it is wonderful to just take a break and shoot for fun which is what I did on Sunday. When working with Brittani to create her senior portraits http://blog.davidquisenberryphotography.com/2007/08/lights-camera-action.html we discussed her long time commitment to contemporary dance so I invited her to bring some of her teammates (Allison and Molly) who have also studied dance for many years for a play day. It was a blast working with these girls to create some pretty awesome images.

But that was only half the fun I had. I also worked with some younger models on Sunday. Brennen is Brittani's cousin and at age 3 she already has the ability to take direction from a photographer. She brought along Max to be her parner in the shoot. Max had me cracking up with some of the faces he would come up with in between shots.

I have more great images from these play sessions and will have to share some more in the near future.

Fine Day for a Wedding

Ronda and I have been friends for 5 years so it was an honor when she asked me to photograph her and Paul's weddding. Paul and Ronda have been restoring a beautiful home in a historic section of Dallas so we decided to have their engagement and her bridal portraits in their home and around downtown Dallas where Ronda works. Ronda and Paul will be married the first weekend in November and Im really looking forward to the celebration which will take place at the incredible Hotel ZaZa in downtown Dallas. Trash the Dress

You may not have heard, but Trash the Dress sessions are the latest thing in the wedding industry. While certainly not for everyone, how many of you remember how careful you had to be with your dress on your wedding day and then how after the ceremony it was put in the closet never to be used again? Meina and Shawn didnt have a destination wedding, but they recreated one last weekend. I had a great time working with them to create some very unique portraits that they really loved and Meina got to enjoy her wedding dress one more time.

I've mentioned before that I dont have enough senior guys come in so when I do have one I really like to try new stuff. One look at Austin tells you he is an athlete. He plays baseball at McKinney High. I was kidding with him that his guns [biceps] were so big I would have to shoot horizontal to make sure they made it in the picture. Austin brought in his 'bird and wanted some pics with it so we included outdoor along with indoor. I wanted to show that jocks can have style, too, so we went for a GQ magazine cover. Austin had this awesome black and red suit so we put it with a white background. He had the the posing down immediately and we created some kick-a$$ images. Dodging the Rain with Megan

Megan had her appointment for senior portraits on Sunday. The sky looked ominious when we began the outdoor session and shortly afterwards it began to rain. Did that stop us? No way. We just drove around the rain. No kidding. It would be raining in one part of McKinney and we would just drive to a new location where it was dry. The rain chased us during her entire outdoor session, however,that just made for beautiful blue skies. Afterwards we went back to my studio for her indoor session and tried out some new backdrops that just arrived. You can see some of Megan's portraits below.

Hot Outside, Haute Inside

I had three portrait sessions on Saturday and because it was so hot outside, I was very glad that the first two were inside my studio where it was nice and cool. My first session was with Alaina who is very close [less than 2 weeks] from having her first bundle of joy and sleepless nights arrive. I type sleepless nights because neither of my daughters slept all night for many months [as I remember it]. This was an awesome maternity session. First, Alanina's and my mutual friend Kelly made a surprise visit and brought this slinky little dress that I'm sure she wears clubbing (making guys seriously jealous of her soon to be husband, Wes). Normally I would not be too excited about a using a party dress in a maternity session, but Alaina looked AMAZING in it as you can see here.

Here is a portrait of Alaina showing off one of her tattoos. Alaina reminds me of a pretty famous movie star, especially in this picture. Can you guess who it is?

As many amazing images as we made on Saturday, this has to be my favorite. To me, this embodies all the emotion and love that a mother must feel for her child during those long months of pregnancy.

Alaina was so easy to work with, which made sense when her mom explained she had modeled in the past. With Alaina's amazing posing, incredible outfits and movie star looks [have you figured out who she looks like yet] it may have been hot outside, but it was definitely haute inside my studio.

Brittani brought a great selection of vibrant clothes which gave me alot of choices when choosing backgrounds. Since Brittani has studied dance for a number of years, posing was natural for her and her portraits turned out looking just like tear sheets from a fashion magazine. Brittani is planning on coming back to do a model shoot with her modern dance costumes in the natural light area of my studio. Im really looking forward to the contrast between the textures of her dance costumes and the wood, bricks and antique machinery.

Matt had his senior portraits this weekend and brought his guitar. I dont get to do enough guys, and especially ones with with a guitar or drums It was a great session. Mat played his guitar while I photographed. I was very pleased to capture the emotion that a musical instrument can bring to the room. If you listen while looking at the pictures, can you hear it?

Big Senior Weekend

It's been a big rush to get senior pictures before school starts. I had 3 senior sessions on Friday, another Saturday and one today. I will be blogging about each in the next few days when I get caught up.
Katherine was the first senior of the day and she got up early! We met at 7 a.m. so she could have an outdoor session as well as a studio session. Katherine was referred by one of her soccer teammates, Kirstie, so we got to talk some about her team while creating portraits. Even at 7 it was hot. I bet Katherine is glad she was number one for the day, because it topped out at 100 later that day. Here are a few from Katherine's senior portrait session.

Saturday's Seniors Part II

Saturday was such an amazing day. Not only did I have a blast with Courtney in the morning, but I got to work with Alison Saturday afternoon. The session started off fantastic because after all the heat we'd had last week, it finally cooled down a bit. Alison chose a combination session so we photograhed around downtown as well as in my studio. Alison has the kind of smile that would make the Grinch celebrate Christmas. A tough Session

No, not in a bad way, in a good way. Yesterday Courtney and her sister Katelyn came in for Courtney's senior portraits. She had SO MANY great outfits I could have photographed her all morning! We really had a hard time picking out her and my favorites [I think mom only got to pick one] but the ones we chose combined with Courtney's awesome smile and natural posing ability made it a great session. Some of her pics are included.

Katelyn also posed for a picture, getting ready for when she comes in for her senior portraits in a few years. She told me she chose her fashion slippers for this pose because they went so well with the room decor.

103 in the Shade

The thermometer read 103 in the shade. The haute index was much higher. Sunday afternoon, 5 professional fashion photographers, 7 models and a professional make-up artist descended on Deep Ellum in downtown Dallas for a model shoot. It was hot! They models were hotter! We had a great time and created some images that grab your attention. Here is a sampling of the session.

I have to start by saying that both Ashley and her mom kept me laughing the entire time I was creating her senior portraits. I wonder if they that crazy in real life or were just entertaining me, either way, I had a blast. Haute Time in McKinney

I had a great time creating Kelly and Wes's engagement portraits last weekend. Within 5 minutes they made me feel like we had known each other for years. Wes's daughter, Lauren, accompanied them and helped me direct the portrait session. She also sat in for a few images, too. As you will see, not only are Kelly and Wes a super friendly couple, that are one Haute Couple, too.

I did take advantage of the last Sunny day to schedule a portrait session with Jill for her senior album. New for '08 Seniors

Since it won't stop raining [which means I have to keep rescheduling outdoor shoots] I decided to show some examples of brand new products designed for Seniors '08.

The first product is WideScreen Wallets. Everyone has wallets your thinking, even the um, yearbook photographer. I agree, but what you really want are wallets with images on both sides!
You can show twice as many unique pictures to your friends. WideScreen Wallets come in 2 forms, the standard and the 411. The 411 lists your contact info [or other info you want on your card] on one side and your image[s] on the other side. Here is an example from Britteny.

Next are bookmarks. A new way to share your image with your friends, including
full length images. You can order these creased in the middle or straight. When creased they could be place settings for a senior party, or fit into a wallet. Your call. Just like the WideScreen Wallets above these are totally customizable so you can express yourself. Allison has an example of bookmarks below.

So I was supposed to have an outdoor sunset shoot tonite, but looking outside, that isnt going to happen. I will have to wait to show images of that, however, I do have some great ones of Vanessa. Vanessa come by my studio so I could try out a red lounge chair I just got and pick up her spokesmodel shirt. Transformation of a SpokesModel

What can I say? Bridgette, this very quiet girl who my daughter used to play with in 4th grade, showed up at my studio with a suitcase full of clothes. That gets me motivated. We cranked the radio and started shooting. My camera loved her. Check out some of the stuff we created!!

A hard life

It must be a tough life for Brian, who is the only male SpokesModel selected this year. To begin with he may make the ladies angry if he runs out of spokesmodel cards to hand out before everybody gets one. He has to continually assure his girlfriend that "being a male spokesmodel" is just another job, similiar to working at the health club every day. Of course, after meeting his girlfriend at the spokesmodel session, I don't think she has anything to worry about. I do not get an opportunity to photograph as many guys as ladies so I was glad that Brian needed very little direction, as if he had modeled before [is this true, Brian]? I had a blast and we created some awesome images, some of which are below.

New Studio Images and My Curse

Let me first introduce Kirstie, a super SpokesModel for 08. Kirstie had the distinction of being the first person to be photographed inside my new studio. See some great images from her senior session below. Now to the curse. Every time I photograph a senior I try to find something that is JUST THEIRS, a location or background that no one else has. As you can image this takes alot of scouting for locations and imagination. However, many times when I find a great spot, I will photograph a senior and the next time I come back it is gone. Examples: There was a great old barn on 380 and Lake Forest. I had a session scheduled for Saturday afternoon and Saturday morning they tore it down to build a Chicken fast food joint. I photographed another senior in this spectacular old house which had been condemed. The very next day they tore half of it down. Another time I found this beautiful field of yellow flowers. Just as we were setting up to take a photograph, here comes a guy on a riding lawn mower and litterly mows them down right in front of me. There are other stories but those have happened just recently. Today was the lastest display of my curse. On Sunday, I photographed Kirstie in a wheat field [image below]. They turned out great and I was really looking forward to using it for more sessions, but of course when I drove by it today, it was gone.. they had harvested it. Please, never ask me to do a photo session at your home!!

Ashlea's SpokesModel Session

New Spokesmodels and the Big Announcement

First let me introduce two new Senior SpokesModels 08, Vanessa and Stephanie. Last weekend, Vanessa, Stephanie, Allison [who you've already met] and I had a spokesmodel shoot in a fantastic location I recently found. This historic building, the Flour Mill, located on Louisiana in downtown McKinney was built in the late 1800s and still has the original wooden floors and brick interior walls. Three of the upper floors of this 5 story building also still have the original machinery which make incredible backdrops for senior fashion photography . I am enclosing some of the model's images so you can get an idea of how great this building is. Now for the Big Announcement. I was so impressed with the building that I am opening a photography studio there in June. I will have both studio lighting and 3 floors of open window lighting which will allow for endless possibilities of fashion photography for seniors.

I will be having special pricing for senior portraits starting in June, so you should book a date now because their will be limited appointments and they are already starting to fill up as the word gets out.

Senior Portraits lead to Big News

Aggie for a Week

Well, not exactly an Aggie, but I did spend last week on the aTm campus at the Texas Professional Photography school along with over 1000 others from around the US and a few foreign countries.
I had a great time and learned some new ideas for senior portraits which I will be implementing shortly with the 2008 Seniors.

A Snowy Senior Session

I know it sounds strange to talk about snow in April, but a few weeks ago at Ryan's senior portrait session it began to snow. Amazing! Luckily it was a short lived snowstorm [more like swirling flakes for a few minutes] and didn't stop what turned out to be a great Senior Session. Here are a few from that day.

Senior Rush

Wow... I've been busy taking senior portraits the last few weeks. It has been a blast, but a bit of a blur, too. Saturday I had just enough time to photograph two of my Senior Spokesmodels 08 for their portfolio. I will have some of Allison's [Boyd] and Brittany's [North] images up here just as soon as I finish with the last few senior 07 orders.
I am excited about going to class next week. Each year I attend the Texas Professional Photography School on the Texas A&M campus. Can you imagine 1000 photographers from around the US descending on Aggieland for a week? This year I will be spending the week with Dave Junion [www.junion.com] who is one of the premier senior photogs in the nation along with Sandy Puc` [http://www.expressionsphotos.com/home.shtml] who is a incredible children's photographer.

An Afternoon with Emily

Last week I spend an afternoon photographing Emily for her senior portraits. We went several places around McKinney. We had to walk throughout a pasture of thistle thorns to get the shot on the hay bale but it turned out so great I know that Emily and I both felt it was worth the effort.

It has been cloudy nearly every weekend, but on Heather's senior session the sun was shining and we found lots of great outdoor settings. The night before I found a field of bluebonnets in McKinney so Heather and I walked across a field to get to them. The session went great, the pictures were awesome! Here are a few:

OK, I will be the first to admit that creating senior portraits is my favorite thing to do with a camera in my hand, but it isn't the only thing I can do. Just to prove it, here is some images from a newborn session I did earlier. I went on location to visit Zoe [and her parents Neal and Misty] when she was about 10 days old. She was the perfect model! She didn't complain about the bright lights, need to fix her hair or even change outfits! Here are a few of Zoe and her parents.
